Introducing JaKenna Gilbert: globe-trotter, storyteller, and head of digital for L’Oréal Luxe Scandinavia.
Ever since she was a little girl growing up in small town, USA, JaKenna Gilbert knew she wanted to experience everything that the world had to offer. After university, JaKenna went on to conquer life in New York City, then travelled the globe, lived in some of Europe’s most exciting cities, discovered true love, and settled into a profession that combines her passions for understanding human behavior, harnessing digital innovation, and raising the profile of quality made products. For Gilbert, the one constant has been that she’s, “never stopped traveling, learning or growing.” JaKenna admits that during her life journey, she has never been, “exactly sure where I'd land, but I’ve always been confident that my decisions would lead me to where I was supposed to be all along, living the life that I've always wanted.”
Introducing: Copenhagen-based musician, Japanophile, thrift store junky, and ‘Belieber for life’ Jasmin Yada.
Copenhagener Jasmin Yada grew up in a “hippie commune” with her mother, brother, and a diverse community of creative people who introduced her to a wide range of artistic fields, from poetry to painting, handicrafts, and making live music. “Everyday we would eat together and do things together,” explains Yada, “it was like one big family and it’s where I learned to love art and creative expression.” Since her childhood, Jasmin has regularly traveled to Japan and spent time exploring a number of creative paths, including an ongoing passion for making music. From cover bands to electro pop to indie rock, Jasmin says that crafting and performing music is an essential part of her life. “Honestly, I couldn’t go a single day without music. Since I was a teenager, I’ve been playing in different bands,” she says, “I love singing and performing with other people—it’s a creative outlet that really makes me happy.”
Introducing our first ever #sheislimitless profile, featuring the multi-talented Mia Holdgaard. Mia is a Copenhagen-based stylist, art director, creative consultant, DJ, and one very busy mom.
Some of Mia’s past work includes collaborations with clients such as Swatch, Warner Music, Clarks Shoes, Sony Music, Thrillist, Superior Magazine, Universal Music, and VICE media—so, basically, she’s a badass. But, what we admire most about Mia is how she combines an incredible eye for style with genuine passion, authentic kindness, and a mad serious work ethic. This summer, we were lucky enough to sit down with Mia to discuss the importance of legacy, her battle to overcome chronic pain, and her undying love for vintage tracksuits.
Introducing Dagmar Eline: Craftswoman, Entrepreneur, Sneakerhead, and Skilled Wood Joiner
A little unclear about the difference between a carpenter and a wood joiner (we certainly were)? According to Wikipedia, “a joiner is an artisan who builds things by joining pieces of wood, particularly lighter and more ornamental work than that done by a carpenter, including furniture and the "fittings" of a house, ship, etc...a joiner usually produces items such as interior and exterior doors, windows, stairs, tables, bookshelves, cabinets, furniture, etc.”
As both a sculptor and professional wood joiner, Copenhagener Dagmar Eline has got some serious skills. And, as a part of our inaugural #sheislimitless campaign, Dagmar has inspired us with her diverse talents, her commitment to craft, and her clever wit. Her newest endeavor, the charming Hængepottepatter which combines traditional pottery with a bit of modern, cheeky humor is guaranteed to make you smile.
